Steamroller

Today it wasn’t a bad day at all.. it was pretty good actually.

I woke up a bit earlier than usual, but without the alarm (nor the phantom pain!) and feeling quite rested. I attached my wheels and set off to have some breakfast out as it was forecasted to be sunny and bright (it was still very misty). Nice part of the country this one! Not just because of the weather but also the people. I haven’t been here long but have already made some friends and the best thing is that I feel accepted and safe. I was feeling pretty miserable at the other place, even ostracised. I understand that some parts of the country are not as forward thinking when it comes to biomechatronics enhancements but man I wasn’t expecting that much hate.

Anyways I got some groceries and while in line a cute toddler was trying to grab my tail so that was fun. The mum complimented me on it, saying that she wishes she also had an extra hand. I can imagine, with that cheeky little one causing trouble! I replied with my standard “oh you know, if I was having the leg done, might as well get me a handy tail while we’re at it”. Then it was back home to eat, refuel the wheels and recharge the vap.

Later I was able to spend the afternoon finishing up the book and catching up with some friends. Boy it is a wonderful thing to have a Universal Basic Income. I know I’ll have my dark days when I’m down but I’m thankful Dr. Robert suggested I start journaling. Next time I am, I’ll remember this ordinary, simple day with a smile.
